State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced today that Terry Tyron Collins was convicted after jury trial of Sexual Battery By a Person 18 Years Of Age Or Older Upon a Child Less Than 12 Years Of Age and Lewd Or Lascivious Molestation By a Person 18 Years Of Age Or Older Upon a Child Less Than 12 Years Of Age. The crimes were committed between November 2021 and March 2023 and investigated by the Manatee County Sheriff’S Office. The trial was held at the Manatee County Courthouse on March 5 – March 7, 2025
The crimes carry a mandatory sentence of 25 years to Life in prison and require the defendant to be designated as a Sexual Predator.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 9, 2025.
The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant State Attorney Ashley Dusnik commented, “The State commends the young victim for her bravery and strength in disclosing the acts of abuse she endured and sharing her experience with the jury. We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement, specifically Det. Timothy Collins of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children unit, in securing this conviction, as well as the patient and careful consideration provided by the members of the jury.”
