The office considers students enrolled in accredited law schools for unpaid student externships in criminal justice.

Process for Legal Externs

Law student externs are considered on a continuing basis. Students seeking Office of the State Attorney, Twelve Judicial Circuit extern sponsorship are asked to contact their college advisor in order to determine program content and credit requirements. Law student extern experiences are coordinated through your college advisor. College advisors may call our Human Resources Department at 941-861-4436 for additional information on how to submit a student for sponsorship consideration.

Legal Externs are not certified and are unable to handle court proceedings.

Law Student Interns are certified by their Law School through the Supreme Court which allows them to handle court proceedings.This would also allow them to be re-certified after graduation.
